This is how to prepare your webshop for a busy period
April 2025 - End-of-year rush, sales, Valentine's Day, or a planned promotion: as a webshop owner, you know that peak periods can be both a blessing and a stressful moment. But with the right preparation, you can make the most of them, without being on your toes. Here is how to prepare your shop for peak periods.
1. Analyse your data and learn from the past
Which products sold well during previous peak moments? Where did things go wrong? Use figures from your webshop, Google Analytics and your sales history to identify trends. That way, you can better assess which products you need to reorder - and which ones make room for promotions.
2. Get your stock and logistics in order
Make sure your bestsellers are delivered on time. Do you have external suppliers? Notify them well in advance that you need extra stock. Also consult with your shipping partner: some courier services experience delays during busy periods. Inform your customer honestly about this and set clear expectations regarding delivery times.
3. Check your webshop technique
Nothing more annoying than a shopping trolley that gets stuck. Test your website for speed, mobile usage, the checkout process and the functioning of discount codes. If necessary, have an external tester run through your webshop.
4. Automate where possible
Automatic confirmation e-mails, stock updates, reorder notifications, abandoned cart reminders... These are small interventions that take the burden off your customer service and increase your sales. Also use a tool to schedule social media and newsletters in advance.
5. Ensure clear communication
Tell your customers what to expect: how long will delivery take? Are there special offers? What are the return conditions? Clarity reduces questions and increases trust.
6. Make it attractive (without destroying your margin)
Free shipping over a certain amount, a small gift when ordering, bundle discounts... People love a little extra. Choose a promotion that suits your brand and respects your profit margins.
Preparation is the key to peace of mind and profitability. If you invest some time in a structured approach today, you will reap the benefits later - with satisfied customers and a solid turnover as a result.
