Scoring on social media: tips for entrepreneurs with little time
May 2025 - Social media are indispensable today to stay visible as an entrepreneur. But posting something every day? Nobody has time for that - especially if you run an SME. Fortunately, there are smart ways to save time and still have a consistent presence. Scheduling is the key word. With these tips, you can do this efficiently and strategically.
1. Work with a content calendar
A good overview prevents stress. Choose one fixed moment per month to plan your content. Add holidays, product launches, promotions or events to your calendar. Use colour codes for different types of posts: promotion, behind-the-scenes, customer testimonial, tip, quote...
2. Choose your channels consciously
You don't need to be present everywhere. Focus on 1-2 platforms where your target audience is. For most SMEs, Facebook and Instagram are ideal. B2B? Then LinkedIn is a logical choice. TikTok or Pinterest? Only if you really have a relevant audience there.
3. Use planning tools
Tools like Meta Business Suite (for Facebook & Instagram), Later, Buffer or Hootsuite allow you to plan posts weeks in advance. That way, you don't have to think every day about what to post next.
4. Reuse and vary cleverly
You don't have to come up with something new every time. A customer review can also be an Instagram Story, a Facebook post or a quote on LinkedIn. A blog article can be divided into several small posts. Recycling is allowed - as long as you are smart about it.
5. Keep it human and recognisable
Social media are not an advertising column. Show who you are, what drives you, how your business really works. People follow people - even if you are a business. Authenticity builds trust.
6. Also plan room for spontaneity
Planning is efficient, but stay flexible. Sometimes something unexpectedly fun or relevant happens to your target group. In that case, feel free to leave a planned post for a while and respond to the moment.
7. Analyse and adjust
Check regularly which posts do well (lots of reach, reactions, clicks) and which do not work as well. This way, you get to know your target group better and better and you can adjust your content accordingly.
Social media need not be a time-waster. By planning strategically, with the right tools and a clear plan, you will stay visible and relevant - without compromising your other tasks as an entrepreneur.
